For the best tattoo results, please follow the aftercare instructions below carefully.
Secondskin Instructions:
Leave the Secondskin bandage on for 6 days. Loosen up bandage by taking a warm shower. Start peeling the bandage from the edge and work your way up. Request assistance from a friend if needed. After the bandage is off, you will want to clean your tattoo well with cool water. You are also welcome to use a fragrance free antibacterial or antiseptic soap. Once you have cleaned your tattoo thoroughly, run cold water over your tattoo for 30 seconds to help with inflammation.
Once the tattoo is clean, give it some air and let it breathe for 2-3 hours. After 2-3 hours has elapsed, begin moisturizing with a thin layer 3 times a day: morning, day and night. You should be moisturizing with an unscented lotion or balm. We recommend an unscented, sensitive moisturizer or you can try a brand name tattoo moisturizer like Secondskin, Hustle Butter or Tattoo Goo.
Plastic Wrap Instructions:
Take off plastic wrap immediately upon getting home. Hop into the shower and gently rinse tattoo with warm water until you are free of blood and plasma. After rinsing, run tattoo under cold water for 30 seconds to seal off your pores. On the second day, start moisturizing 3 times per day, everyday until the tattoo is healed (around 2+ weeks). Please use a thin layer as over moisturizing does not help.
During healing process, please avoid excessive sweating, stretching your tattooed area, saunas, sun exposure, dust, chlorine pools, colognes, body wash, shampoo and abrasions.
Some people can have reactions during the healing process. Symptoms will include raised lines, inflammation, itchiness and slight redness. This is no reason to be alarmed. Tattoo ink is a foreign substance so sometimes certain areas will have a “flare up”. If this happens, simply buy an antiseptic fragrance-free soap, wash your tattoo, pat dry, moisturize and then leave it alone. If itching becomes intolerable, you also have the option of icing your tattoo.
If you experience any ink loss during your healing process, we guarantee touch ups up to 2 months after your most recent session. This policy excludes tattoos done on the fingers, hands and feet due to their healing factors.
